The emcee from North Carolina is renowned for her lyrical skills and has continued to rise as an artist throughout her career. Rapsody provided fans on Friday from her upcoming album Eve with her recent single “Ibtihaj.” She enlisted the assistance of veteran R&B musicians D’Angelo and GZA member of the Wu-Tang Clan to produce a song that embraces the essence of hip hop itself.
Rapsody’s Eve is scheduled to be released this month, and Essence was previously told by the rapper that this is a women empowerment project. “It’s my ode to the women in my life that made me who I am, but I realize it’s bigger than me at the same time,” she said. “It’s more about black women’s village. I feel like we all have similar experiences and stories and inspirations that are very similar. My last record, it’s been for me. That’s all personal things you know you can listen to and perhaps relate, but for me it was a lot of it.
